This week, we'll be taking a closer look at what's coming up in San Antonio later this year and in 2023. Check out our guide to everything new and upcoming in the Alamo City, from thrilling rides to magical experiences.

MAGICAL EXPERIENCES

Previously seen only in Atlanta, giant living sculptures will debut in San Antonio in May.

Sculptures created by Mosaicultures Internationales de Montréal are whimsical in their design. A 38-acre garden features eight magnificent installations. Sculptures will include a 20-foot dragon near the Lucile Halsell Conservatory, mermaids lounging, and a peacock parading in the San Antonio Rose Garden. A magical work of art is created with steel forms covered in sphagnum moss, and thousands of meticulously planted plants. May 6, 2023, will mark the opening of the exhibition.

NATURAL BRIDGE CAVERNS HIDDEN WONDERS TOUR

A new Hidden Wonders Tour experience will debut at Natural Bridge Caverns on May 12th, featuring state-of-the-art lighting, sound and light effects, and expansion into never-before-tourned areas. A new lighting system will also allow guests to tour an area that has previously only been accessible to cavers via the cave's public passageways.

An adventure walk through the world of DINOSAFARI

On the lower level of Rivercenter's Shops, the dinosaur evolution exhibit offers hands-on challenges with representations of natural elements, such as earthquakes, that often occurred during this time. Guests will enjoy virtual reality technology, spectacular installations, and interactive activities for children as they embark on the thrilling adventure. Open now through September, the exhibit is free to the public.

LOS TROMPOS EXPERIENCE

Take part in the Los Trompos Experience at The Shops at La Cantera from March 11-April 9, 2023. These immersive art installations are fun for kids and adults of all ages! Get ready to spin, play, relax and more in these vibrant art pieces made with Mexican woven panels!

THRILLING NEW ADDITIONS

The first launched flume coaster in North America and an all-new vertical lift are on their way to SeaWorld San Antonio. It's an exciting family adventure to drop over real-like waterfalls and roar through rapids in Catapult Falls.

KID FLASH COSMIC COASTER

KID FLASH Cosmic Coaster is also coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas this summer. It features two parallel trains on two parallel dueling tracks, allowing guests to compete and race against one another simultaneously.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will soon have its second steepest dive coaster since Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger.

NEW RESTAURANTS AT HEMISFAIR

It won't be long before new restaurants open at Hemisfair. In the park, 21 historic structures are currently being restored to increase the number of food and beverage options. The Jerk Shack, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Kunstler Tap and Brat House are new additions.

NEW MUSIC VENUES

As a new music addition to the Alamo City, The Espee is located in the historic St. Paul Square entertainment district. There are 3175 seats inside this boutique amphitheater, as well as private event spaces that can be rented. Here are some of their upcoming concerts.

STABLE HALL

This 130-year-old building once housed brewery draft horses and will be transformed into a seating capacity of 1000 concert venues at the Historic Pearl. A mix of national touring artists and local artists will perform at the new venue, the venue's website states.

NEW HOTEL

Plaza San Antonio Hotel & Spa is the newest accommodation in the Alamo City during the summer months. A 253-room hotel has been converted from the National Register of Historic Places building. New bar area, garden oasis, pool, and spa will be included.
