The picturesque setting is just 45 minutes from San Antonio, covered in tall oak trees and meadows.

 

During your outing, you are bound to meet some of the many locals. The trail is home to armadillos, coyotes, gray foxes, skunks, and raccoons. After your hike or bike, refresh yourself in the river by paddling in it, so don't forget your bathing suit.

 

With just 35 miles of hiking, you can take the Bamberger, Curry Creek Overlook, and Golden-cheeked Warbler Loop as comfortable middle-of-the-road hikes. This trail provides a more relaxed and easy stroll alongside the river, making it more suitable for children as well as dogs.
